May 8 - Commemoration of Thalassaemia Day

Yesterday, May 8, we commemorate International Thalassemia Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about this congenital and chronic hematological disease. Although it is not widely known, thalassemia affects the lives of thousands of people worldwide, who face ongoing challenges due to the complications of this condition.

At #FFIS, #IMIB, and #MurciaSalud, we join the global effort to raise awareness and support those living with thalassemia and other congenital anemias. Through various research initiatives, early diagnosis promotion, and appropriate treatment, we work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of those affected.

We are especially proud to be part of the NANEMIAR European project, a valuable initiative dedicated to researching congenital anemias. This project fosters significant advancements in the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases such as thalassemia, offering hope to many patients.

Thhis day is to reflect on the importance of blood donation, early diagnosis, and the scientific commitment to fighting congenital anemias. Science and solidarity make a difference, and we all have a role to play in improving the lives of those living with thalassemia and other hematological diseases.
